Guango Cove is a pristine and stunning beach property situated in the town of Orange Bay Portland, Jamaica. Facilities are now under development to establish a unique tourist and local attraction.
The beach is set naturally in a cove and is protected by a parabolic shaped reef about 50 meters off shore. Marine life abounds in this area, therefore, for protection, limited snorkeling and scuba diving are allowed with stringent restrictions.
Also included is a high-tech, Technology Park where research and development of innovations (such as Micro-Ocean Wave Generator, Electrically Operated Boats and Wind Turbines) will be conducted and demonstrated.
There have been sightings of an eighteen century ship wreck just off shore which is evidenced by a canon that lay close to the beach in approximately 15 meters of water. Ideas for exploration and recovery of the wreck are encouraged, collaboratively
Within walking distance of Guango Cove is the old British Railway Station, it was established in 1896 and has tremendous historical value, as it predates its famous Indian counterpart. It is proposed to develop the railway station building, to be used as a museum. We will tell the gripping stories following the abolition of slavery and connection with rural transportation, in the development of the banana and tourism industry in the North Eastern section of the island.
The Spanish River is also nearby in and is where the treaty between the British and the Maroons was signed, therefore adding significantly to the areas historical importance.
Guango Cove a pearl, nestled on the untouched side of the North Coast and therefore is a must see.
